Rachel is a London based freelance pattern designer who creates designs for a range of surfaces including homeware, textiles, fashion fabrics and printed paper products. I first saw this on twitter via Lori McNee and followed the link to My Modern Met to see these wonderful snow patterns from artist Simon Beck. Please read more at My Modern Met, he is fascinating. "David Kracov, whose paintbrush is guided by the ever-changing muse of pop culture, whose clay is shaped by the witty puns of the English language, and whose designs are brought to life by his literary prowess, has left his unmistakable fingerprint on the world of modern art." I am partial to butterflies so I just love those pieces! I have come to love and admire the works of Sally Trace and Destiny Womack. I even went as far as emailing them separately to see if I could learn their technique. Their response to that email was a good lesson in itself. Artists have their own techniques, ways of mixing mediums, unique processes, etc., that it would have been impossible for them to explain how to recreate their "look". That wouldn't be fair to them either unless they were teaching a class. So, I was left on my own. I still have no idea how they create their paintings but I do know I have found my own way, and I might add it was by a happy accident. After being born and raised in Louisiana, Jude completed both a BFA and an MFA in Graphic Design from Louisiana Tech University. Right now, Jude calls Mississippi home, where he enjoys teaching, designing, printing, and spending time with his wife and two daughters. Helen is an illustrator, designer and a mother of 3 little girls on the lookout for all things fun, fresh and beautiful! I could have posted so much more of her work. Gemma is a freelance illustrator and comic-making person currently living in Norwich, UK. I love her whimsical patterns. Dorrie is a New Jersey based artist. Many of her paintings feature iconic local architecture, signage or imagery that adds a personal touch. Thereza is a London based illustrator & graphic designer. Her favorite tools are colour, shape and imagination. |
